Kitchen Essentials List

At Spice Union, we’re all for great taste.  However, it’s important to have the right tools to master any recipe.  With years of

experience working in the kitchens of some of the world’s top rated resorts, we bring you our Kitchen Essentials List.

Knives:

  • 10” Chef knife with high carbon stainless steel blade

  • 8” Chef knife with Japanese high carbon steel blade

  • 6” Boning knife with Japanese high carbon steel blade

  • 12” Slicing knife

  • 12” Serrated bread knife

  • 3.5” Paring knife

** When buying knives, be sure to try them out in the store before you buy.  Consider the shape of the handle, comfort in your hand, handle material, shape of the blade as it glides with your cutting stroke and most importantly, the quality of the steel.

Equipment:

Food processor

High-speed blender

Counter top stand mixer

Meat thermometer

Digital scale

Pepper mill

Salad spinner

** When buying kitchen equipment, purchase to the maximum of your budget.  You get what you pay for, so buy quality brands with good track records and good warranties.

Most commercial grade kitchenware is made to be dishwasher safe.

** Pots, pans and bakeware are also best bought at kitchen equipment outlets or online.  Look for pots and pans with riveted handles, not welded.  Never throw hot pots and pans into a sink of water; over time, this will warp the metal and the pan will never sit level again.  Again, purchase to the maximum of your budget.  You get what you pay for, so buy quality brands with good track records and good warranties.
